Day before departure

Saturday morning

I finally can get my mind back on the trip after two weeks of awaiting the arrival of Friday the 21st when I was scheduled for my thesis defense. I knew the material I wanted to discuss but had never defende a thesis, let alone remotely via Skype video conferenceing!
The unknown was quite intimidating but with that experience relatively successfully behind me I can now turn my attention back to the trip.
Well, tomorrow I leave Tokyo for Kuala Lumpur.
Will be taking a shuttle from Yokosuka to Tokyo and flying to KL via Taipei where I'll have a brief 1.5 hr layover to resume travel arriving at KL in the wee hours of the morning on Christmas eve.
This trip will be a bit different as I won't be going alone as usual. I'll be traveling with a male colleague from school. We took a brief weekend tral trip over Veterans Day holiday and we were very successful and good company for each other. I hope this much longer trip works just as well.
I started packing but have not really been focused on that so I'm going to do that now.
Packing is done, Backpack is heavier than I wish but there are always last minute things that end up getting put in and seldom are needed through the trip. This is no exception. I am doing better but have packed more than I need. Again!
